Imbedding an Opt-in Form Behind Video
Posted by Mehul as Tips n Tricks
This is a neat little trick I’ve seen the Big-shot Guru’s use, and I finally learned how it was done, thanks to several helpful folks at the Warrior Forum.
The effect we’re looking for is to have an Opt-in form suddenly appear at the end of a sales video. Don’t worry, this method requires no flash programming, no scripting, no special flash programming etc, and is fast and easy to create.
- Embed a borderless iframe in your webpage slightly larger than the dimensions of the video and player you are going to use.
- Create a blank html page and set it as the default page to be displayed in the iframe.
- Embed your video in the blank html page that you set as the default to be displayed in the iframe. Align it in the top left corner of that page.
- Create another blank html page and set the video to redirect at the end to that html page.
- Get the subscription form code you want to use to subscribe people to your auto responder or list management account. Paste that code so that the form appears in the top left of the blank html page you just created. Make sure that your form and any copy and images around it is no larger in dimensions than the video player you used… if it is, make your iframe is slightly larger than those dimensions.
- You will now have the following files:
- The landing page that visitors will see: the video and the opt-in at the end in. This is the page that has the iframe.
- The blank html page with the video embedded in it, in the top left corner.
- The blank html page with the opt-in form and opt-in form copy in the top left corner.
- Any supporting files like the video player and video file, images etc
Upload to the web and you are done
Now when a visitor arrives on the landing page with the invisible iframe they will see the video that is embedded on the page the iframe frames.
When the video finishes playing it will redirect to the page with the opt-in form in it… but that will happen behind the landing page and inside the iframe so the effect is the visitor stays on the same page but the video finishes and an opt-in form is displayed where the video used to be.
If you want to allow the visitor to replay the video then simply place a text link beneath the video that says “click here to replay the video.” When they click it the video will reappear in the iframe and the process will start again.
This is how to simulate a video with an opt-in form at the end without having to program the form using flash and without having to do any scripting your self.
Hope you were able to follow all of that. I’d like to thank Josh Anderson of the Warrior Forum for explaining this process to us all.
