Blogging + Adsense - $Money$

Don’t worry folks; this is NOT a Math test! But you are probably wondering it’s all about. Today will be your first lesson on B+A=$M. Unless you live in a cave or have just landed here from Alpa-Centari, you’ve almost certainly heard of Adsense. Then again you could be like I was a few months ago and have never heard the words: Adsense, Blog, Google – ok I knew what Google was, because you haven’t spent much time on the Internet. A few months ago I decided it was high-time I find an extra source of income, a way to make money at home, since it everywhere I heard of others making Millions online. Now whether you think making money online is the next economic frontier or that all Internet Marketers (IM’ers) are a bunch of Con-artists out to scam you, the fact that you’re reading this page means you are either curious, or desperate for some quick easy cash. Well let me set two things straight:

  1. Yes you can make a comfortable living from home, even sitting in you pyjamas.
  2. There’s NO SUCH THING as an EASY GET RICH QUICK plan. It takes work and careful planning to start any business.

Now that we’ve got that taken care of, lets begin the Income Solutions class lesson 1. First, a few definitions to simplify things for you Newbies:

  • Newbie: someone who is NEW to the digital economic cosmos, i.e.: you, and until recently, me.
  • Blog: according to Wikipedia: A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog; Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.
  • Adsense: well basicly Adsense is an internet commercial which acts as a link to the advertised site. The good news is they won’t interupt your regularly schedualled program and you can get PAID to for posting the advertisement on you web page or blog!
  • Google: only the biggest search-engine on the net, and one of the biggest advertiser - they will also pay you to show their ads on you blog.

The best part about Blogging is it’s totally FREE! NO hosting fees, NO Domain name to purchase, NO programs to buy, and any one with two fingers can have a blog ready to publish in under 30 minutes. Traffic flow is almost instantaneous, as blogging sites, or Social Networking sites as they are called, will post your New blog on the front “What’s Hot” page for other bloggers to see as soon as they login. You don’t have to fret about scammers, because you’re not buying any thing, or directly selling anything. Any opposition to “money-making blogs” usually comes from those who couldn’t figure it out anyway, so they decided to pretend being morally at variance with it. Balderdash if you ask me. It’s a simple formula:

Blogging + Adsense = $Money$

A number of bloggers use adsense quite profitability and those few bucks can turn into a significant income from your blog. The only thing stopping you is, well, YOU.

Adsense Research & Analysis: The importance of doing your homework! Don’t worry; it’s easier than it sounds. I am a firm believer in experimenting for yourself, and I will be the first one to tell you NOT to take someone’s word for something. When you begin blogging, you should incorporate a few well-placed Google ads in prime territory, wait a few weeks and check your results. Remember, even the top earners had to start from scratch too, so just have fun and see what’s possible.

Sagely Words of Wisdom: Expert? Who me? Not by a long shot – like I said earlier, I’ve only been at this a few months. But I’ve gained extensive knowledge from various web sites and watching/listening to the specialists. If you want some expert advice from someone far more experience and successful than me, I will gladly recommend a few expensive courses and e-books, which you can spend the next month or two reading. Although everything I’m going to tell you can be learned free elsewhere, but you’d have to take time to go look for it! I’m confident what I have learned can benefit any one interested in using adsense to make money with their blog.

What? You still want to go look? Ok, here are a few links:

  • Now that you’re back with me, where were we? As this series of articles develops, we will progress from the very basic to moderately advanced, and those who have little or no experience with Adsense will grow in confidence. Before long, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t do this sooner.

Blog Fitness Test: Newbie bloggers often use adsense simply because they think Adsense is the easiest choice to make money online, but does that make it the best choice? That’s only natural: (a) you see it on websites everywhere, and (b) it’s most common sources of monetization on websites today.

Perhaps it is, but then again, maybe not.

Let’s examine it further. You need to resolve for yourself three simple questions:

    • Is your blog a suitable conduit for Google Adsense?
    • Will Google even accept your site?
    • Do you want to use Adsense; does Google meet your standards?

Sites showing Google ads may not include any type of offensive material, weapons, adult content, illegal content, gambling, or the sale of alcohol, etc.; the complete list is in the User agreement for you to read. Most of you will have no difficulty meeting the requirements, but be sure to read the TOS completely. Is Adsense a Good choice for you? Certain blog topics are AdSense treasure troves, with keywords that pay well for every click, however some topics are duds. Depending on which category you fall into then adsense might not be a good choice for your site. A complex question only you can resolve, so take some time to experience it after we discuss the pros and cons. The advantages are:

    • AdSense is Simple and free to join
    • It’s not difficult to use
    • No need to negotiating with advertisers
    • Google provides well written, highly relevant ads
    • Ads are contextual to match your pages content automatically
    • No messing around with cloaking affiliate links
    • You’re free to concentrate on providing good content
    • Google finds the best ads for your pages from 100,000 advertisers
    • Even Newbies can experience success
    • Simple, easy-to-understand statistics]
    • You can have both affiliate links and AdSense together (as long as your links don’t mimic the look of the Google ads.)
    • Can filter up to 200 URLs, thereby blocking ads you disapprove of
    • You can also block strong competitors

Adsense disadvantages? After all that, you’re still not convinced? Ok, here are just a few things to look out for:

    • Relevancy - Keep an eye on contextual engine, sometimes the ads don’t match the content.
    • Site Pollution - Just as too many TV commercials ruin the enjoyment of a good movie, overuse of
    • Adsense will turn visitors away - ghastly!
    • Ad Blindness - Adsense is everywhere, which means readers have become blind to it.
    • Smart Pricing - choose wisely, poor performing ads on one site can affect the value of clicks on all your sites.

Remember two Words: Original Content. With out unique content on a high producing keyword topic, your AdSense ads will be worthless. Of course you could use the space for some other form of income, either affiliate ads or maybe private ad sales – but that’s another topic to be discussed in detail in another lesson, so keep watching!

The important thing is to take that first step, begin laying out your plan. If you think this is all confusing, then just take the first step: create a practice blog on subject you love. Don’t worry about ads; Google will put them there anyway! Once you’re confidant you like what you wrote, publish it and see how many visitors you get the first day. Now doesn’t that feel great, and it was FUN too.

You don’t have to take my word for it: Experiment for yourself, stretch your horizons, travel to a new frontier. Along the way you’ll learn many new things and be surprised as the money starts rolling in. We will discuss how you find high paying niches in more detail in another lesson, but you must begin from what’s in your heart. Making money is more rewarding if it comes from a subject you love.
