In earlier articles we’ve talked about how to monetize your blog with Adsense, direct buy advertisers, affiliates, and “Harmonizing your blog with you passions”. Some have asked how to find high paying niches, and whether or not you should have more than one blog. In this article I hope to answer some of those questions and guide you into cultivating a successful blogging empire – and do it affordably.

Let’s face it, there are Millions of blogs out there spinning thru the digital cyberspace, but you’d like yours’ to stand out from the crowd. We’ll begin with some proven methods to raise your blogs’ profile with the search engine crawlers, beginning even before you write you next blog.

The Basics:

  • Optimization
  • Original Content
  • Promotion
  • Love your Readers

These are the main ingredients in any blog or web page and I’ll elaborate later. But first I want to give you an outline of all the steps required to create a blogging network of moneymaking blogs. This is just the outline; you’ll need to read and follow the directions in the “Basement Blog Network” e-book by Collin Welles, which I’ll provide for FREE at the end of this article.

Phase 1: Finding a topic and setting up your first Blog.

Step 1: Identify a profitable niche: I hear you asking how? Fire up your web browser and head to http://www.topnichewords.info, there you’ll find all the top-paying AdSense keywords and niches.

Step 2: Collect keywords in that niche: Pick a niche from the site above, then tab over to the next page and make a list of keywords related to that niche. Collin recommends compiling your list in an Excel workbook – you’ll see why later.

Step 3: Identify the most Profitable keyword(s): to optimize for content and maximize advertising profits. To do this, take that list from Step 2 into Google’s “Traffic Estimator Tool” at https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox

Step 4: Open a Gmail account: this will create a Google Account that you can then use to create your Blogger account as well (even if you already have one, create a new separate account) –you thank me later.
BONUS HINT: You can set up the vacation auto-responder for this Gmail address with a short email that promotes an affiliate product associated with your blog’s niche theme.

Step 5: Open a Blogger account and create your profile: You’ll do this via the Gmail account you created before, and access Blogger quickly from the menu bar at the top of the Gmail page and clicking “More > Blogger”.

Step 6: Begin building your blog: In your Blogger account, you’re going to build a blog themed around the niche you selected, targeted at the most profitable keyword from your list.

  • First, Blogger will have you set the blog’s Title, Subdomain name (URL), and Description. Use your keyword/phrase in these options. Name the blog to be something like KEYWORD News, or KEYWORD Info, but stick to your keywords for the best effect.
  • Pick any Template you like or that suits your theme and choose a color scheme; keep in mind clean blogs work best.

Step 7: Place your AdSense ads into your blog: create 3 new AdSense elements, choose size and color scheme to blend with your template. Refer back to “Blogging + AdSense + $Money” if you need help on selecting the best AdSense.

Step 8: Write an intro for your blog: Remember the Basics we mentioned above –this is where they come in: you will need to write and place 1-3 paragraphs of content into your template. Once again focus on your keywords and write content around them. It doesn’t have to win the Pulitzer, you just a few Original sentences about your topic that contain your keywords. Use good SEO tactics on this content:

  • Write a headline
  • Use boldface on a couple of keywords
  • Keyword density in document text: Another very important factor you need to check. 3-7 % for major keywords is best, 1-2 for minor. Keyword density of over 10% is suspicious and looks more like keyword stuffing, than a naturally written text.
  • Keywords in anchor text: Also very important, especially for the anchor text of inbound links, because if you have the keyword in the anchor text in a link from another site, this is regarded as getting a vote from this site not only about your site in general, but about the keyword in particular.
  • If you need some SEO tips, you can find a pretty good quick checklist here: http://www.webconfs.com/15-minute-seo.php
  • Respect your Readers: give them quality content, value for their time so they will come back and refer others to your site.

Step 9: Set up your blog’s post-by-email address: navigate to “Settings >Email Settings” where you’ll see something like: “your.name[BLANK].blogger.com” Put a secret word into the blank to create your “Mail-to-Blogger” address. Anything you email to that address will become a post on your blog.

BONUS HINT: You should log all your info for each blog: Gmail address,
Password, Blog Title, URL, Mail-to-Blogger Address, etc in a secure place; you’ll need them all later.

Phase 2: Automatic Content Creation and Distribution.

The next steps in the process the most important and I will leave the details to Collin in the “Basement Blog Network”. It’s here you’ll determine your overall content strategy. Collin discusses 2 different strategies in this phase: Option A (White Hat) or Option B (Black Hat). You can choose to do only one or the other, or you can mix it up, experiment, and develop a strategy that works for you.

Step 10: Find Targeted Content: the most comprehensive list, called the “Keberfegg.” Tool, can be found here: http://www.researchbuzz.org/tools/kebberfegg.pl

Step 11: The “White Hat” Content Strategy: involves manually editing and overseeing your blog’s content which will result in a higher-quality, more focused blog.

Step 12: The “Black Hat” Content Strategy: will provide your blog with automatic, keyword targeted content forever without any intervention from you.

Step 13: Get the BloggerGenerator.com FREE tools: Go to BloggerGenerator and sign for his list so you can get the free software tools he offers.

Step 14: Set up the BlogPinger tool: set your blog up to be pinged using the BlogPinger tool every 6 hours as explained in the instructions.

Step 15: Create a Sitemap: Once your blog has 10 or more posts, create a Sitemap using: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

Step 16: Host and Submit the Sitemap to Google: You can learn more about Sitemaps and Google Webmaster Tools here:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview

Step 17: Get links with LinkGrabber tool: run LinkGrabber on the URL you copied from the Sitemap maker tool (Step 15). LinkGrabber is going to spit out a text file with all the links to your individual posts on each page of your blog.

Step 18: Create links.txt File for BlogPoster Tool. The overall goal with this step is create a text files with your URLs and your Keyword list in a specific format and import them into the BlogPoster tool.

Step 19: Post links to blog pages with BlogPoster: If you have less than 10 blogs in your network, that’s it. Don’t run the program yet. Skip to the next step.

Step 20: Improve and Repeat: the TRUE KEY to success with this or any other online business is a “Continuous Improvement Process”.

SUPER DUPER BONUS HINT #1: Once you have a bunch of blogs, you can send an email to all of them at once, featuring an article with links to a squeeze page, or a product page (your own or one you are affiliated with) - making killer backlinks that get spidered every day. You have your own content distribution network!

Well that’s it. I know that was long, and you’ll still need to read the free e-book by Collin Welles: “Basement Blog Network”. Collin’s done an excellent job laying out all the required steps, with explanations as to Why, Where, and How, as well as including all free links and tools. I’d like to thank Collin for allowing me to pass on this material to you. Here’s the link for the instant download
